Yes / No / Maybe List
A way to work out what you enjoy, what you are open to, and what is off the table, first on your own, then together. Rate each item, add a note where the answer is “it depends”, and print or save your list as a PDF to compare with a partner.
Before you start
Choose your moment
- Do this when you feel grounded, relaxed and open. If you feel anxious, stressed or rushed, come back another time.
- Doing it with a partner? Ask them when would be a good time for you both.
Separately, then together
- Complete your own list first, with the intention of sharing afterwards.
- Agree to be curious about each other’s answers.
- You can pause or take a timeout at any point.
You can change your mind
- Any answer can change at any time, for any reason or for no reason at all. Come back and update it as often as you like.
- Add your own items, this word bank is a starting point, and some of it will apply to you and some of it won’t.
What the answers mean
I know I like this, or I have never tried it and would love to. Say whether you prefer to give, receive or both in a note.
I sometimes like this depending on context or partner, or I don’t know enough yet. I am open to talking about it.
Last time didn’t go well, or it doesn’t sound fun. I am willing to talk about it, and not ready to try it, perhaps ever.
An absolute limit for me. Please don’t ask.
